Terms of Use

1. Who can use RAY

You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms for you. Businesses may use RAY through a person authorised to act for them.

2. Your account

• •Sign in with your own Google or Apple account and keep it secure. You are responsible for everything done through your RAY account.
• •Keep your profile details accurate. Don't pretend to be another person or business.
• •One person, one account. Don't create accounts to get around a suspension.

3. RAY is a meeting place, not a seller

RAY lets people publish listings and contact each other. RAY does not own, sell, inspect or deliver any item, does not employ sellers, and does not handle payments. Any sale, rental or job arrangement is an agreement between the buyer and the seller only.

Check items and people yourself before you pay. Meet in a public place, inspect the item, and never send money in advance to someone you haven't met. Our Safety page has more tips.

4. Listing rules

When you post a listing, you confirm that:

• •you have the right to sell or rent what you advertise;
• •the title, description, price, location and photos are accurate and your own;
• •the listing is in the right category and isn't a duplicate;
• •you will update or delete it once the item is no longer available.

5. What you may not advertise

Anything illegal in Rwanda is not allowed, including:

• •drugs, and prescription medicines without authorisation;
• •weapons, ammunition and explosives;
• •stolen, counterfeit or smuggled goods;
• •protected wildlife and products made from them;
• •sexual services and sexually explicit material;
• •people, human organs, or official documents such as IDs and passports;
• •pyramid schemes, "get rich quick" offers, and loans or jobs that ask for fees up front;
• •other people's personal data.

6. Zero tolerance for abuse and objectionable content

RAY has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. In listings, profiles and chats, you must not:

• •harass, threaten, bully or intimidate anyone;
• •post hate speech or discriminate based on ethnicity, religion, gender, disability or any other characteristic;
• •share sexual, violent or otherwise offensive content;
• •scam, mislead or pressure other users;
• •send spam or unrelated advertising;
• •try to break, overload or get around RAY's security.

Use Report on any listing, or in any chat, to tell us about a problem, and Block to stop someone contacting you. We aim to review reports within 24 hours.

7. Content you post

You keep ownership of the photos and text you post. You give RAY permission to host, display, resize and share that content in order to run and promote the marketplace, for as long as it stays on RAY.

Messages you send in a chat stay visible to the other person, including after you delete your account, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. How we enforce these Terms

We may review, hide or remove any listing or message, and suspend or ban any account, that breaks these Terms or the law. Where it's safe to, we tell you why. Listings that receive several reports may be hidden automatically until a person on our team reviews them.

If you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll take another look. We may report illegal activity to the authorities.

9. Your privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Rwanda's personal data protection law.

10. No guarantees

RAY is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, or that listings and users are genuine, accurate or legal.

11. Limits of our responsibility

As far as the law of Rwanda allows, RAY is not responsible for losses that come from dealings between users, from content posted by users, or from any interruption of the service, and is not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

12. Leaving RAY

You can stop using RAY at any time and delete your account from Profile → Settings. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

13. App stores

If you got the RAY app from Apple's App Store or Google Play, that store's own terms also apply to your download. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms and are not responsible for RAY or its content.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as RAY grows. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use RAY after that means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Rwanda. Any dispute will be handled by the competent courts of Rwanda.
